Past, Current & Future Works
ZDA designed a freestanding, 2-story building that accommodated a full service bank facility with a drive-thru banking operation. Work included schematic design, design development, construction documents, interior design and construction administration.
The Brentwood Middle School gymnasium project consisted of a student locker room upgrade and expansion in addition to the replacement of the existing gymnasium structure with a new facility. The design of the new gymnasium allowed for more use of natural lighting with the use of translucent panels thereby reducing electrical needs. The use of a pre-engineered structure met the project budget demands without compromising design. The locker rooms received new lockers as well as additional restrooms and showers. The interior was modified in the girls and boys locker rooms and received new wall, floor, and ceiling finishes.
Cardenas Early Headstart
The Early Childhood Education Center located in southwest San Antonio is an existing school building with a need for major interior and exterior renovations. The front entrance, administration offices, and restroom facilities were upgraded to further serve the students. Scope of work included site design of the school’s drive, student drop-off, and faculty parking. The new entry consisted of a new canopy with lighting, landscaping upgrades and a new security fence. The interior renovations upgraded the administration offices and the restroom facilities.
This project is a vegetarian (fast food) concept that is located near major traffic arteries in the middle of Park North Shopping Center. This concept incorporated a drive-thru and an outdoor seating area with landscape lighting. Other modifications included a new storefront, kitchen, restrooms, interior finishes and lighting.
EISD Automotive Education
Project included interior finish out of space at existing Edgewood Warehouse Building to convert into classroom space and studio for new cosmetology school and new automotive education. The classes are part of a curriculum in the Fine Arts Academy of the District. Spaces were converted and were a success to the overall improvement of the District’s service to its community.
EISD Cuellar Park
ZDA worked in cooperation with the Edgewood School District to improve its sports facilities with the cooperation of the City of San Antonio and its neighboring parks. This was a miscellaneous project that included walking trails, two new softball fields, four practice fields, new administration building, and new parking lot. It also included new wrought iron fencing around the whole property while maintaining the integrity of the current park.
Mission Event Center
Located in the historic city of Mission, Texas the proposed Event Center will become a beacon for the region in the years to come. Equipped with state of the art lighting and sound equipment the Event Center will draw performances from all over to the city of Mission. The Mission Event Center combines modern and regional design to create a structure that is not only stunning but will remain timeless.
Our Firm was involved in the Interior Finish-Out of a Children’s Boutique located in the new Dominion Ridge Shopping Center.
Green Vegeterian Cuisine
Our firm was involved in the design of a new space for a vegetarian restaurant in the Historic Pearl Brewery. It is located on the banks of the Riverwalk and it was a great location for its promotion of healthy eating since the farmer’s market and Culinary Institute of America is located in the same complex. The design of the restaurant involved a lot of color to provide a playful atmosphere but in subdued tones to respect the Historic side of the place.
New townhome residences were developed on a restricted historical site with a private developer. Scope consisted of Schematic Design, Design Development, Interior Design, Construction Documents and Construction Administration.
ZDA designed a new free-standing 19,000 SF facility to house the practice of Dr. Martha Wilson. The medical facility included several exam rooms, a surgical center and related administration office areas. Located near hospitals in the Stone Oak area where she currently performs surgical procedures, the new building allowed for greater efficiency of her practice in the same area which was an advantage to her clients.
Roy Cisneros Elementary
Roy Cisneros Elementary School was built on a site already owned by the Edgewood School District. Site access was reoriented taking into consideration different traffic routes and sun orientation. Roy Cisneros is a two-story building with a new cafeteria, classrooms, science labs and gymnasium. The media center was the only building salvaged from the existing school. The new building was designed to tie into the existing media center. The interior reflects a colorful design scheme yet retains a timeless order.
SAISD School EntraNce Modifications
Our firm was involved in the modification of two schools for the San Antonio School District. The entrances were modified at Douglass and Pershing Elementary Schools as part of an effort to enhance visitors experience to the schools. Changes included adding colored window film, xeriscaping, landscaping, painting, new handrails, and new lighting. The project had its challenges as the budget was limited but the end result was successful and made an impact on the community as they took notice.
The mixed-use development features retail on the first level, three parking garage levels, and loft living units on the upper floors. The building is located on the commercial center of The Heights in Houston. The building was designed with a green rooftop terrace and a pool deck on the fifth floor. The development is part of a growing neighborhood located near downtown Houston.
The Shops at Lincoln Heights
Modifications to existing shopping center where made to modernize it in order to attract retail and clientele. ZDA made alterations to the site, buildings and parking lots for the retail center. The towers at the shopping center were designed taller and there was a change of material on the facade of existing buildings. Our firm’s services included Construction Documents and Specifications, Site Planning, and Construction Administration.
There is a potential neighborhood design renewal in the inner loop, located on Westheimer in the heart of the Trade Area it is an eclectic and energetic community. The lot is in a perfect location for development with 200 feet of frontage on a main street at a lighted intersection. ZDA had the opportunity to present Houston investors and clients with a design for new retail, office and residential buildings totaling 93,121 SF.
